Lightening strikes and the power goes off. I’m trapped in the french farmhouse with only candlelight to see with. I perch neath the doorway and read by candlelight and wait for the rain to stop. The strike takes out all of Les Chauss. We wait.

I fry a day old baguette in fresh pressed walnut oil, with a touch of sea salt and serve it hot and crunchy with orange marmalade. It’s incredible.
